Three people have been arrested in connection with the death of a clinical officer-in-charge of Kerende Health Centre in Tarime district, police have disclosed.

The suspects (names withheld) are alleged to have murdered Dr. Isack Daniel Athuman a few days ago, and were apprehended during their attempt to flee to Mwanza and Dare es Salaam, a statement released by police spokesman SACP David Misime said yesterday.

Their bid to evade justice only proved abortive as the police were smart enough to put them under arrest. They will appear in court upon completion of investigations, the statement said.

The statement also revealed that in a similar incident, the police also arrested three people suspected to have killed on April 26 this year a former Geita Gold Mines Ltd (GGML) employee, Milembe Seleman Hungwa. The incident occurred at Matubele Street, Buhalahala ward, in Geita region.

The statement said the suspects were found with some items believed to be property of the deceased. They will appear in court soon pending completion of investigations.

According to the statement, a fourth suspect, one Pastory Lugodisha Buchuchu, is reported to have committed suicide at Buhindi Forest Reserve in Sengerema district.

“Would-be criminals should better engage in gainful employment or else they would face the wrath of the law,” warned the statement.
