Barrick North Mara Gold Mine joined forces with the surrounding community yesterday to plant trees in and outside its precinct as part of celebrations to mark this year’s World Environment Day.

The company donated 200 tree seedlings which were planted at the new Matongo Secondary School to improve its natural vegetation and landscape, and show a commitment to protect the environment, according to North Mara Environment Manager Frank Ngoloma.

Matongo Ward Executive Officer Lackson Isibhu congratulated Barrick North Mara for teaming up with the local community to plant trees, saying it has always been at the forefront working together to improve the environment
