President Samia Suluhu Hassan has urged experts in every sector of the national economy to ensure that strategic projects are carried out professionally to realise the value for money.
In an three-day official visit to Mwanza region, the president said today during her inspection tour of three major projects that her government will keep on availing funds to all projects – even those left by her predecessor the late John Magufuli as “I inherited them and will make sure they are fully implemented,” she said.
At the inspection of the JPM Bridge, the president was told by Works and TransportMinister Prof Makame Mbawara that the 3.2 -km project was going on well and its life span is projected to be more than 200 years.
Outgoing Tanzania Roads Agency TANROADS) Chief Executive Officer Hussein Mativila said the bridge’s construction started in February 2020 and is now 75 per cent before its inauguration in February 2024.

Touring the Mwanza-based ship project, the Managing Director of the Marine Service Company Ltd (MSCL) Eric Hamis told the president that all is set for the East African largest passenger ship to start sailing across all the riparian states Kenya and Uganda.
Satisfied with the work in progress, President Samia promised to officially launch the vessel in August this year.
National Social Security Fund Managing Director Masha Mshomba told the president that a 168-room hotel worth 93bn/- would be operational by June 2024.
The project would accommodate holidaymakers in the burgeoning Mwanza city.
President Samia challenged the NSSF management to ensure the project becomes beneficial to the country’s economy.
“I am extremely worried whether or not this investment would realise the benefits, but listening to your strategies, I am confident that you can make it. Please ensure the workers’ money isn’t wasted,”warned the president.

Earlier, President Samia officiated at the famed Bujola Sukuma Cultural annual event in Magu district on Tuesday .
