Minister of State in the President’s Office responsible for Regional Administration and Local Government, Mohamed Mchengerwa, yesterday directed the Permanent Secretary in the same ministry to immediately suspend the Uvinza District Executive Director, Zainab Mbunda and the District Treasurer, Majid Mabanga as ordered by Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa.
The Prime Minister’s order follows an inspection tour in which he discovered the failure of the two officials in overseeing the completion of the construction of the district hospital and the district council buildings although funds to the twin projects were allocated since 2021.
In a press statement released yesterday in Dodoma, Mchengerwa directed the Permanent Secretary to appoint an acting District Executive Director and District Treasurer until investigations on the two suspended officials are completed.
The minister appealed to all District Executive Directors to supervise development projects in their localities to ensure that they are completed within the specified time.
