Twenty-five people have died in a grisly accident which occurred yesterday evening at Ngaramtoni area in Arusha.
A statement issued by the Commissioner of Operations and Training of the Police Force, CP Awadhi Juma Haji, confirmed the deaths of 14 men, 10 women and a child. Of the dead include seven foreigners.
CP Haji said 21 other people – 14 men and 7 women were injured.
The accident involved four vehicles – a minibus with Registration No. T673DEW, property of New Vision School, a minibus plying the Arusha Ngaramtoni route on the Arusha-Namanga road, a private car, and a Kenyan-registered lorry with No.ZF 6778.
Eyewitness reports said the New Vision School minibus was carrying its Korean owners and Tanzanian teachers at a bus stop when the Kenyan- registered lorry hit all the three vehicles for purported failure of brakes.
