President Samia Suluhu Hassan has said that justice and good governance will prevail to ensure that the forthcoming local government elections are held in a free and fair atmosphere.
The independent task force presented its recommendations to the government last year. These recommendations include transparency in the electoral process and the appointment of the Chairman of the Electoral Commission, among others.
President Samia said some few recommendations weren’t directly received by the government because they are against the current constitution, but they could be incorporated during the amendment of the envisaged new constitution.
The president pledged cooperation with foreign embassies urging the diplomats not to interfere with the country’s electoral process but to adhere to the norms of good diplomacy.
She called for the cessation of hostilities between Israel and Palestine to end butchery of innocent citizens of both countries.
