“The Egyptian government aims to initiate the trial operation of El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant’s (NPP) first reactor by the second half (H2) of 2027, announced Amged El-Wakeel, Chairperson of the Nuclear Power Plants Authority (NPPA).

This announcement was made during the sidelines of the two-day Atom Expo 2024 forum held in Sochi starting Monday.

Mr. El-Wakeel mentioned that the commercial operation of the first reactor is scheduled to commence in September 2028, followed by the operation of the remaining units.

He also highlighted that the project is expected to yield 7.2 to 7.7 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually upon reaching full operation.

The El Dabaa NPP comprises four units, each with a capacity of 1,200 megawatts.
In January, significant progress was marked as the first concrete was poured into the foundation of the fourth power unit at the El Dabaa NPP.”
