Newly-installed first woman Archbishop of Canterbury, Dame Sarah Mullally, will visit Rome between April 25 and 28 to meet Pope Leo XIV.
The former England Chief Nursing Officer and Bishop was installed as Archbishop of Cantetbury and Primate of the Anglican Commuinion on March 25, 2026.
At the start of her public ministry in the Church of England and worldwide Anglican Communion, Archbidhop Mullally received a letter PPF Good wishes and blessings from Pope Leo.
On her part, Archbishop Mullally thanked the Pope for his prayers and assured him of her own, said a statement issued by the Lambeth Palace.
"I'm deeply grateful for your gracious letter and for the assurance of your prayers at the time of my installation as the Archbishop if Canterbury," said the statement.
"I very much lom forward to meeting Your Holiness in the near future and to continuing to strengthening the bonds of our friendship and shared commitment."
After her installation on March 25, Archbishop Mullally acknowledged the Prince and Princess of Wales with a bow as a show of respect to the royal family.
