Innovations in the transport sector and introduction of electric cars in the country will be given fresh impetus as experts meet in Mwanza tomorrow over the matter.
Over 500 engineers and technicians are set to deliberate on a number of innovations and technological advancements involving the transport sector during their two-day meeting scheduled for Thursday and Friday.
Speaking to the Lake ZoneWatch yesterday, the Chairman of the organising committee Eng Benedicto Mukama said the conference will dwell on the contribution of the transport sector to the country’s five year development term.
“The technicians and engineers will meet with a focus on how best local experts can support technologies surrounding the transport sector and how the same can be disserminated across the country,” said Eng Mukama.
He said at least two locally made electric cars from Dar es Salaam based manufacturers will be showcased while more innovations will be encouraged. Also, education on the advantages of electric cars will be emphasised.
The 5th Engineers and Technicians Conference will be opened by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Works and Transport, Eng Aisha Amour.
