President Samia Suluhu Hassan yesterday sent a condolence message to Tabora Regional Commissioner Batilda Burian following the death of 18 people who perished in a grisly road accident.
The accident occurred at 11 a.m. at Uchama ward, Nyasa division, in Nzega district.
Tabora Regional Police Commander CP Richard Abwao said the road crash claimed the lives of 14 men, including a child, and four women.
He said 60 people were injured of which 51 are being treated at the Nzega District Hospital, others have been admitted at the Nkinga Referral Hospital and one person has been transferred to Bugando Referral in Mwanza.
The accident, according to CP Abwao, involved a bus owned by Alfa Company, which was travelling from Mwanza to Dar es Salaam. It collided head-on with an oil tanker from Dar es Salaam to Mwanza.
“President Samia wishes the injured quick recovery and joins the families of the dead in this sad moment,” the presidential message read.
