For Elizabeth Thomas Msabi, 20 years of living in the United Kingdom have given her a wealth of experience to venture into politics as she says she is uniquely qualified to become the next Member of Parliament of her native Tarime Rural constituency in Mara region.
She would become the first woman in Tarime Rural constituency to seek election into parliament in this year's general election through the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) party's ticket since Tanzania Mainland won independence from Britain in 1961.
"There's something burning in my heart which has pushed me to return to my native home to share with my own people what I've gained abroad as far as socio-economic development is concerned." She says confidently.
"The time that I've spent abroad has given me enough experience to be an agent of change in my home area, if my dream becomes a reality". she adds.
"I've decided to come back home (Tarime Rural) with the explicit desire to help bring about development to the youth, women and older persons without living anyone behind."
Msabi said in a recent interview with Sauti ya Mara, the leading local newspaper in the Tanzania's Mara Region
Twenty years ago, Msabi went to the UK for studies in public health at the West London University in the UK with the desire to help disadvantaged groups -- children, women and the aged.
"I have learnt a lot of things abroad, now is the time to share those things with my community."
She says, adding, "I've a dream to bring about positive change in healthcare and economic transformation of the lives of the people in the villages."
Msabi boasts of many friends who have promised to cooperate with her in using the available resources to change the Tarime Rural landscape for the better.
Tanzania has in recent decades made a giant leap to bring women in the mainstream development process of the country through participation in politics, particularly elected positions.
