Tanzania has begun to feel the impact of increased fuel prices following the on-going United States and Israel against Iran war which began on February 28 this year.
The state-run Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA) Wednesday announced fuel prices to be charged for the month of April in each region in Tanzania Mainland effective today April 1, 2026.
According to EWURA, the Lake Zone regions of Shinyanga, Mwanza, Geita, Kagera, Simiyu and Mara would bear the brunt of the fuel prices because of transportation costs from Dar es Salaam.
All these regions should be prepared to fork out nearly 4,000/- per litre of the petroleum products, according to the EWURA announcement.
The statement said Tanzania is taking various measures to ensure the security of fuel supply to minimise the adverse impact to the national economy.
