Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa yesterday wound up his official tour of Mara region challenging the region’s residents and those from neighbouring regions to grab the opportunity of the modernisation of the Musoma airport by building modern hotels to boost the tourism industry in the area.
Speaking to Musoma residents, the Prime Minister said the completion of Musoma airport modernisation is good opportunity for them to reap the benefits of tourism.
“We need five-star hotels and places offering different services to the influx of visitors who will be coming to this town as a result of the upgraded airport,” the Prime Minister said.
”This is a rare opportunity for Mara residents to launch investment ventures that would attract the flow of tourists to this region. We shouldn’t wait for the completion of the airport modernisation, or else we shall be missing the opportunity,” he added.
The Prime Minister called for the mobilisation of the youth to engage in businesses that would attract tourists visiting the region.
“This is my call to you: Don’t wait until upgrade of the airport is completed,” he said.
Mara region has the geographical advantage of bordering the tourist attraction World Heritage Site of Serengeti National Park and the sprawling Lake Victoria which also is the source of livelihoods for thousands of people engaged in the fishing industry.
