Professor Makulilo named OUT Vice-Chancellor

Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA) has again won the 2025 European Quality Choice Diamond prize in tourism service provision, elevating the country’s standing as a premier tourist destination globally.

The award was conferred by the European Society for Quality Research (ESQR) on May 29, 2025 at a ceremony held in the Swedish capital, Stockholm, in recognition of TANAPA’s all-inclusive best practices in tourism service provision and conservation initiatives.

“Tanzania National Parks has been bestowed with the Quality Choice Diamond Prize for its exceptional practices in conservation and tourism services,” ESQR Chief Executive Advisor Michael Harris, announced at a dinner gala.

Tanzanian Ambassador to Sweden, Mobhare Matinyi, TANAPA Conservation Commissioner Mussa Nassoro Kuji and other senior officials from the government wildlife conservation agency, attended the occasion to receive the prestigious award.

TANAPA is one of the foremost state institutions promoting sustainable tourism, improving the welfare of communities and playing a key role in national economic growth.

Speaking at the ceremony Ambassador Matinyi praised ESQR for promoting global quality management and for nominating TANAPA as one of the recipients of the award.

He attracted Swedish investors to come and launch projects in luxury boat and beach tourism, particularly at the Saadani National Park in Coast region connecting with the famous beach tourism practised in Zanzibar.

On his part, TANAPA Conservation Commissioner Kuji thanked ESQR for its recognition of his organisation’s dedication to quality management.
