Tanzania and Finland have explored new avenues of cooperation in trade and investments as the two countries celebrate 60 years of their friendship.
The new areas of cooperation are in the fields of blue economy, energy, .education and technology, Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan told the media yesterday.
Yesterday, Tanzania welcomed President Alexander Stubb of Finland who is on a three-day state visit to the East African nation, to strengthen existing friendly ties between the two countries.
The Finland leader held talks with his host President on various issues of mutual interest in a quest to further the existing relations between the two nations.
For six decades, Tanzania and Finland have cooperated in such key sectors as education, forestry, tax reforms, and gender equality since the former was at its early days of independence.
President Samia told the media after their talks with her guest that the focus was on strengthening cooperation whose good results can be seen in such sectors as good governance, education and environmental conservation.
I’ve used this occasion to invite Finnish businessmen accompanying President Stubb to explore potential trade and investment opportunities while in their visit to our country,” she said.
Tanzanian and Finnish traders will meet in Dar es Salaam tomorrow to discuss, among other issues, trade and investment opportunities during a forum which will be addressed by visiting President Stubb.
Relations between Tanzania and Finland trace their origin in the mid-1960s when leaders of the two countries crafted strategic to enhance cooperation in various fields of mutual interest.
