The coming session of Parliament in August will repeal a law which legalises the confiscation of livestock found grazing in the country's national parks.

On Mara regional official tour, Prime Minister Mwigulu Nchemba said: "In the coming parliamentary session in August we shall revoke the law legalising confiscation of livestock as it has untold consequences to the welfare of livestock keepers, including throwing them into poverty."

Dr Nchemba said this when addressing public meetings in Serengeti and Tarime districts on Tuesday.

Some of the villages in the twin districts are bordering Serengeti National Park and the Ikorongo-Grumeti wildlife reserves.

Bunda district also has villages bordering the sprawling Serengeti National Park.

The Prime Minister also hinted that the government will amend other laws which affect people's social welfare.

Dr Nchemba's Mara regional tour leads him to inspecting and inaugurating development projects worth 50bn/-.
